Offering bed and breakfast since 1984, Oscar’s House has welcomed folks from all over the world. Now in its 31st season, this 1940 island home was built by Captain Joe Burrus, one of the island’s last lighthouse keepers. A gem of an inn, Oscar’s has four guest rooms with three private half-baths, one full bath and an unforgettable outdoor shower. Innkeeper Ann Ehringhaus is a photographer, author, interfaith minister and massage therapist. Oscar’s is located in the heart of Ocracoke village and is an easy walk to the harbor and other historic sites. It offers rest and renewal with good conversation and fun, free bicycles and massage therapy. Healthy full breakfasts are served, and special diets are happily accommodated. Retreats and Reiki workshops are offered in the off-season. Ann’s new book,Ten Thousand Breakfasts, A Tale of Wonder, a memoir of 30 years in the B&B business, is available this year at Oscar’s and around the island.
