The Forbes Four Star and AAA Four Diamond Sanderling Resort is a grand seaside retreat of classic Outer Banks architecture. Its refined accommodations include 96 rooms, five vacation homes, three restaurants, conference and wedding facilities, a luxurious spa and salon with an indoor pool and fitness center. New to the resort is the addition of two outdoor pools and firepits. The resort pool is family friendly, while the tranquility pool caters to the adult-only crowd. All the buildings in the resort are in close proximity to each other and to the Atlantic Ocean and Currituck Sound, providing for an easily walkable vacation village atmosphere. The rooms offer varying levels of comfort, but all have private baths, private decks, plush robes, fine personal-care products and a small refrigerator. The five vacation rental homes accommodate families or small groups from eight to 16 people with all the same amenities an inn guest receives. This exclusive resort has three restaurants, Kimball’s Kitchen (formerly The Left Bank), the Lifesaving Station Restaurant and No. 5 Bar and the more casual Sandbar (see the Restaurants section). The Sanderling’s conference facilities can handle groups from 10 to 100, with flexible meeting and board rooms, high-tech equipment, sound systems, banquet facilities and catering. Weddings are popular at Sanderling Resort with multiple sites for ceremonies and receptions. Sanderling Resort’s world-class spa offers an amazing menu of massage, body, skin, hair and nail care as well as an indoor pool and steam rooms. A full schedule of yoga is available seasonally. The restaurants and spa are open to the public as is the on-site water sport rental center run by Kitty Hawk Kites.
