Some of you seasoned Outer Banks vacationers will know this property as the Colony IV motel, a trusted accommodations for visitors for many years. Recently, they decided to change the name to Shutters on the Banks, perhaps to better highlight the recently completed extensive renovations that feature new bedding, furnishings and carpet throughout. Choose from rooms or efficiencies. Rooms are equipped with a TV with HBO, microwave, refrigerator and hair dryer. Efficiencies have full kitchens. Every room has free WiFi access, and there is a computer in the lobby for guest use. There are indoor and outdoor pools, a whirlpool spa and an exercise room. Oceanfront rooms have private balconies from the second floor up, and ground level rooms have direct access to an oceanfront gazebo and walkway to the beach. A complimentary continental breakfast is available every day. All guests receive free passes to the YMCA, which offers indoor/outdoor pools, a fitness center, aerobic and yoga classes. Shutters is open year round.
